What You'll Contribute

We are seeking an experienced, business-savvy Data and Privacy Attorney to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert in data and privacy law, particularly in the financial services industry. They will play a critical role in advising key stakeholders on a wide range of data, technology, and privacy issues, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams on the design and implementation of innovative new products and services. This individual will also closely monitor newly enacted legislation and regulatory developments, assess their impact on the organization, and recommend appropriate courses of action.

What You'll Do

  • Provide legal guidance and support on data, technology, and privacy matters, including data collection, sharing, and commercialization, digital marketing, and data architecture and governance.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess the privacy implications of new products, services, and business initiatives.

  • Analyze and interpret newly enacted privacy laws and regulations, advise key stakeholders of potential impacts, and implement solutions as necessary.

  • Draft and review privacy policies, data processing agreements, and other disclosures related to data handling and privacy compliance.

  • Respond to privacy-related inquiries from regulatory agencies and other external stakeholders in a timely and accurate manner.

What you have

Minimum education, skills and experience required.

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and current license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

  • 10+ years of legal experience in private practice or in an in-house corporate legal department, with a focus on privacy and data issues in the financial services industry.

  • In-depth knowledge of both federal and state privacy laws and regulations, including GLBA, CCPA, FCRA, and UDAAP.

  • Proven track record of providing strategic legal advice and guidance on complex privacy issues to senior management and key stakeholders.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and apply legal requirements in a practical business context.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with others at all levels of the organization.

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in cross-functional group setting, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

  • Meticulous attention to detail.

  • Superior business acumen, influential with sound judgment.

  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment (2-3 days per week in the office).

Preferred education, skills, and experience.

  • Experience advising on the adoption and use of Generative AI
