What You'll Contribute

This position is responsible for the preparation of assigned tasks for Federal and state tax compliance, provision and special projects

What You'll Do

Tax compliance

  • Prepares book-tax difference calculations as assigned

  • Reviews Federal pro-forma returns in OneSource Income tax software

  • Prepares state tax workpapers for annual returns, including state modifications and apportionment calculations

  • Completes state tax returns in OneSource Income tax software

  • Prepares quarterly state tax estimates

Tax Provision

  • Assists with quarterly and annual income tax provision, including:

  • Analyzes and reconciles income tax accounts on a monthly basis; Assist with resolution of any unreconciled differences

  • Prepares FIN48 analysis

  • Prepares quarterly state apportionment

  • Prepares book-tax difference calculations, both permanent and deferred

  • Ties-out deferred tax asset/liability balances

  • Prepares and records tax related journal entries

  • Assists with management testing of internal control procedures

Non-income state tax returns

  • Prepares miscellaneous non-income tax returns, including gross receipts, sales and use and personal property returns

  • Researches and documents non-income tax issues

  • Completes tax research and other special projects as assigned

What You Have

Minimum Education, Skills and Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree – Accounting or related field

  • 1-2 years of tax experience at a Big 4 or equivalent corporate experience, including experience in tax provision (ASC 740) and tax compliance

  • Strong federal and state compliance and knowledge of tax accounting (ASC 740)

  • Experience with Thomson OneSource tax software, including OTP. OIT and OSA

  • Strong computer skills with MS office software, especially Microsoft Excel, and tax research software (BNA)

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task while working under tight deadlines

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills

  • Experience with financial institutions

  • PeopleSoft (or another general ledger accounting system) experience.
